Greater Miami Shores Community Learning Partnership
Miami Country Day School is a founding member of the Community Learning Partnership of Greater Miami Shores (CLP) along with The Cushman School, Barry University and Doctors Charter School. Established in 2008 by local businesses, organizations, and public and private educational institutions, its primary purpose is to provide a forum for sharing community, school and university educational resources and opportunities that support three core program components: Student Leadership Development, Teacher Professional Development, and Community Engagement. Through these programs, the CLP strives to minimize barriers between students, faculty and staff (culturally, socioeconomically, geographically, ethnically, etc.), reduce costs and duplication of effort for programming that already exists, and enhance educational opportunities for all.
- Student Leadership Development: Projects for the student leaders from member schools differ year to year. They range from organizing a year-long service project for all schools to producing a leadership conference focused on internet safety. Annual topics are explored through interactive, student led projects and community conversations designed to enhance critical thinking skills and expand perspectives through great civic engagement and service.
- Teacher Professional Development: Conferences and mini-conferences are held each year to provide member teachers and staff the opportunity to collaborate with other teaching professionals and discuss topics that are pertinent to their daily practice. Teaching excellence is enhanced for all CLP teachers, faculty, staff and administrators through partnering to reduce costs, expand offerings, and share training opportunities.
- Community Engagement: Personal and social responsibility is fostered among all school, university and community members through collaborative projects and speakers that positively impact and transform the local neighborhoods and community.
