Middle Grades Partnership
Middle Grades Partnership (MGP) forges partnerships between public and private schools to provide summer and school-year learning opportunities for academically promising Baltimore City middle school students as well as innovative professional learning opportunities for public and private school teachers. The highly praised partnership model brings together public and private schools to change the trajectory of Baltimore middle school students. Teachers from both school communities combine their expertise and work side-by-side. The result: high-quality, rigorous programs that don’t look or feel like “traditional” school.
Since 2005, Middle Grades Partnership has served over 1,200 Baltimore City middle school students through summer and school-year programs that stimulate rather than remediate. Academic instruction focuses on math, reading, and writing. They also integrate the arts, athletics, personal development, and field trips. Each partnership draws on their schools' strengths to develop unique programs. There are currently eight partnership sites serving over 400 kids, and no two programs are identical.
