Sonoma Academy
Sonoma Academy partners with Kawana Academy of Arts and Sciences in a number of programs. This elementary school is dedicated to serving children of need, with 96% of its students eligible for free or reduced lunch. The partnership programs are as follows:
- Weekly Music program of ukulele instruction for 50 fifth graders taught by SA faculty and students, with a recital each spring
- Working with local nonprofit, “Listening for a Change,” SA and KAAS students interview and record community residents’ stories. The program goal is “to enable students and community members to apply lessons of the past to the emerging and challenging issues of today.”
- Monthly Runners Workshop for first-sixth graders taught by junior class members of the SA cross country team
