Reimagine:

Reimagining the Bake Sale, creating new pathways for engaging children in community

Central Question:
We all want our students to feel both responsible for and capable of doing good for others. Our vision statements and goals often explicitly commit to this. Yet many schools are finding that the tools and methodologies for engaging children in community are outdated. Sock drives, lemonade stands, bake sales, coin collection - didn't our grandparents do these too? Please join us to explore new methodologies and tools for engaging children in giving and service. Guests from The Giving Square, Bryn Mawr, and McDonogh will share their expertise and experiences.

This professional development session addresses:

  • Our current narratives around the role of children and service.
  • A new framework for engaging kids in service, giving, and philanthropic efforts.
  • Tools for nurturing a philanthropic disposition in all children, one based on empathy, humility, and impact.
