Preparing Your Students for Community Engagement

Laura Day, Executive Director of the Institute for Social Impact at Hockaday School, will lead this 2-hour session and share the strategies and outcomes she developed when creating her Social Impact Fellows program.  Intended to prepare 9th and 10th graders at Hockaday for the social impact programs that are integrated throughout their high school experience. 

Central Question:

How can we make sure our students are properly prepared to engage with their community? What sort of training is necessary to ensure that they are equipped with the historical knowledge, cultural competencies, and empathetic sensitivities that will ensure that they get the most out of their social impact and community engagement experiences.
