The North Star Collaborative

Enrichment & Access
Laurel School

North Star Collaborative (NSC) is an innovative partnership between Laurel School, an independent school for girls K-12, with a co-ed Pre-Primary, and Warner Girls Leadership Academy (WGLA), a public PreK-8 girls’ school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). NSC seeks to provide, over the course of 13 years, the long-term access to resources and academic support necessary for the North Stars, a cohort of Cleveland girls in the high school graduating classes of 2018 and 2019, to obtain a four-year college degree. Additionally, NSC strives to foster socially conscious and action-oriented behavior in Laurel girls. NSC incorporates a six-week intensive Summer Academy for the North Stars, shared learning experiences that bring both communities together throughout the school year, and professional development for faculty members, recent Laurel Alumnae and current Laurel high school students interested in urban education.
