Haiti Initiative

Enrichment & Access
Pennington

In immediate response to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010, Pennington organized fundraisers to purchase supplies and provide support to the stricken island nation.  To assist in their effort, the school built on a 20 year relationship between a local Presbyterian church and Harmony Ministries, a Haiti-based organization that provides food, water, and medical care to those in need.  As a result, their efforts grew and eventually resulted in the construction of the first school building in the remote region of LaSalle.  Pennington students now have the opportunity to travel to Haiti during their spring breaks to complete various service projects such as assisting with medical clinics, painting the school and providing school supplies for the more than 100 students who attend the LaSalle school. You can read more about their travels here.
