Value of Community Engagement and Impact in Your Classroom
As we emerge from the pandemic and consider the ways in which we want to educate our students, it is crucial to reaffirm our commitment to community engagement, social impact, and school partnerships. Connecting what students are learning in the classroom to what is going on in the real world creates opportunities for deeply engaged learning, empathy growing, and students who begin to see their role in the world as active citizens. In addition, the mental health benefits are outstanding for students who have a greater sense of purpose and contribute to something larger than themselves. Connect what is going on in the real world to your academics
Repurposing Throughout Your School to Infuse Social Impact and Community Engagement
With time being the most valuable resource at a school, how do you add social impact and community engagement programs to your offerings? You repurpose! Connect with established school partners, build-out already existing programs, and find nuggets of time and opportunities hidden in your already existing school schedule. Examples of how to do this with clubs, sports teams, and all kinds of academic classes are provided. Repurposing is the only way to truly integrate your community engagement and social impact programs into all aspects of your school’s culture.

The Institutional Value of Community Engagement and Social Impact Programs
Community Engagement and Social Impact Programs are beneficial to all aspects of a school community. Not only do the students benefit directly with an improved sense of purpose, increased engagement in their academic pursuits, and better preparation for their adult lives but all other divisions in a school benefit directly from these programs as well. A clearly articulated commitment to social impact and community engagement improves outcomes in admissions, development, and marketing in addition to faculty development. These programs assist in recruiting and retaining mission appropriate families. The programs themselves attract new and existing donors who feel their philanthropic efforts have a greater impact when contributing to efforts that are for the greater good and the communications and marketing team has a greater reach when sharing stories about the community beyond your school boundaries. Perhaps most importantly, these programs increase faculty retention and allow your faculty and staff to feel connected to the greater community and see the larger impact their work is having on the world.

Igniting a Commitment to Impact
Gather your student leaders to set an intention for the coming school year. NNSP will lead your student leaders through a series of activities that will build their leadership skills, explore their sense of purpose, and help them set their goals for the coming school year. After this experience, your student leaders will be equipped to take initiative, share their sense of agency, inspire others, and grow a school-wide commitment to community engagement and social impactive activities.
The National Network of Schools in Partnership will work with you directly to create the presentation that fits both your needs and your budget.
